Fish Footage is the embodiment of abstract art from the perspective of the ordinary: crosswalks, doorways, and crumbling streets. The body of work encompasses more than 350 images from New York, Paris, Los Angeles, San Francisco and now, Greenville, South Carolina.
"Fish," as he prefers to be called, found his artistic calling working for years as a Theatre Designer then as a handyman. He struck on the idea of using his old beat up Red Wing boots as an anchor for his photos. He simply looks down and turns the ordinary and commonplace into artistic treasures.
Fish uses simple equipment. An old Blackberry camera/phone to squeeze out every drop of art. There's no Photoshop; no manipulation of the original scene. Fish Footage flattens three dimensional space so that whatever is familiar to us looking down at the street or parking lot is reduced to pure shape and color; proving there is great beauty beneath our feet if we would just take the time and effort to really see the world.
